Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Chi Omega Chapter. ARTICLE I NAME, This organization shall be known as Zeta Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Incorporated chartered in Arlington and serving the Arlington and Alexandria jurisdictions of. the Commonwealth of Virginia The Chapter shall be composed of graduate sorors as defined. by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Constitution and Bylaws. ARTICLE II PURPOSE, Zeta Chi Omega Chapter shall support and implement the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Incorporated Constitution and Bylaws which states that the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Sorority is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards to promote unity. and friendship among college women to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls. and women in order to improve their social stature to maintain a progressive interest in college. life and to be of service to all mankind, ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP. SECTION 1 Qualifications, A An active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is a soror who meets all.
financial requirements for the current year of both her chapter and the Boul Every. active member is a member of the Boul, B A life member is a soror who possesses the qualifications enumerated in the Alpha Kappa. Alpha Sorority Incorporated Constitution and Bylaws the Manual of Standard. Procedure and who voluntarily requests and accepts the provisions as outlined therein. C A life member shall not be required to attend Chapter meetings or in any other way. participate in Chapter activities Nationally she shall receive all courtesies accorded an. active soror She shall not be required to assume chapter obligations and therefore will. have no voting privileges in Zeta Chi Omega Chapter Should she wish to vote and. participate in Chapter activities she must assume her share of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter s. financial obligations, SECTION 2 Assessments Fees or Dues. A Chapter dues and assessments shall be presented annually at the October Chapter meeting. voted upon at the November Chapter meeting and paid by December 31 of each year. B Checks returned for non sufficient funds shall be assessed a fee to be determined annually. by the Finance Committee with notification to the membership during the October. Chapter membership meeting, SECTION 3 Rights of Membership. An active member is one who has met all financial obligations as set forth within these. Bylaws Some members may become active members under special provisions and the. traditions of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter, 3 Zeta Chi Omega Bylaws Approved by Joyce Henderson Mid Atlantic Regional Director on October 2 2015. A An active member can vote at any Chapter meeting where votes are cast. B An active member meeting eligibility requirements can sponsor or co sponsor. prospective candidates for membership All active members can vote on candidates for. membership, C An active member meeting eligibility requirements can run for any Chapter office. SECTION 4 Resignations and Disciplinary Action, A Resignations Whenever it becomes necessary to fill a vacancy of an elected officer a. candidate that meets the eligibility requirements within this Bylaws shall be nominated. by the Executive Committee and approved by the Chapter members to complete the term. An officer who completes the term of her predecessor will be eligible to run for two. consecutive terms, B Disciplinary Action, 1 Procedures and Grounds for Expulsion from Chapter Membership Procedures. and grounds for expulsion from membership in the Chapter shall be consistent with. those outlined in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Constitution and. Bylaws and Manual of Standard Procedure, 2 Individual Privileges Violations Instances where individual privileges are. withdrawn the action may be initiated by the Chapter subject to the approval of the. Regional Director or by the Regional Director and may be imposed in accordance. with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated Manual of Standard Procedure. SECTION 5 Sponsoring Candidates for Membership, A Eligibility for membership shall be in accordance with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Incorporated Constitution and Bylaws the Graduate Membership Intake Process. Manual and the Bylaws of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter, B A soror desiring to sponsor or co sponsor a prospective candidate must be an active. participating member of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter for at least twenty four 24 consecutive. months immediately preceding the date the Membership Intake Process MIP request is. submitted to the Regional Director To be considered an active participating member of. the Chapter for the MIP a soror except certified Golden Sorors must have met each of. the requirements below, 1 Met all financial obligations to the Chapter within the specified timeframes. 2 Served and participated on at least one or more committees within the Chapter or the. Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia Inc IFNV during the twenty four 24. consecutive months immediately preceding the date the MIP request is submitted to. the Regional Director, 3 Attended the majority at least 1 of scheduled chapter meetings during the. twenty four 24 consecutive months immediately preceding the date the MIP request. is submitted to the Regional Director Exception to the meeting requirement will be. considered on a case by case basis and approved by the Chapter Basileus and the. Membership Committee, 4 Attended at least one sorority sanctioned meeting i e Cluster Undergraduate. 4 Zeta Chi Omega Bylaws Approved by Joyce Henderson Mid Atlantic Regional Director on October 2 2015. Roundup Regional Conference Boule or Leadership Conference during the twenty. four 24 consecutive months immediately preceding the date the MIP request is. submitted to the Regional Director, C A Golden Soror is exempt from Article III Section 5 B 4 and may sponsor or co. sponsor a prospective candidate if she meets the requirements listed above in this Bylaws. in paragraphs Article III Section 5 B 1 through 5 B 3. D The Chapter will vote to conduct MIP upon recommendation from the Membership. ARTICLE IV OFFICERS, Rank List of Officers The Chapter Officers are Basileus Anti Basileus Grammateus. Anti Grammateus Tamiouchos Anti Tamiouchos Pecunious Grammateus Anti. Pecunious Grammateus Epistoleus Parliamentarian Ivy Leaf Reporter Archivist. Hodegos Graduate Advisor and Philacter, SECTION 1 BASILEUS. A Qualifications Prior to her nomination a candidate for the office of Basileus must have. 1 Been a financial member of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter for thirty six 36 consecutive. 2 Attended 70 of scheduled Chapter meetings during the past thirty six 36. consecutive months, 3 Participated in the program activities of the Chapter. 4 Attended at least two 2 of the last five 5 Regional Conferences. 5 Attended at least one 1 Boul within the past sixty 60 consecutive months. 6 Attended at least one 1 of the following within the last twelve 12 months prior to. nomination, a Chapter Leadership Workshop, b International Leadership Seminar.
c A Cluster, d Undergraduate Roundup, 7 A working knowledge of parliamentary procedures. 8 Served in leadership positions within the Chapter such as a Chapter officer chairman. of a committee or special activity, B Duties The Basileus shall. 1 Preside at all meetings of the Chapter and its Executive Committee. 2 Exercise general supervision over the Chapter, 3 Appoint the Parliamentarian and Archivist with the approval of the Executive. 4 Appoint Committee Chairmen and members and fill any committee vacancies except. as provided by these Bylaws, 5 Serve as an ex officio member of Chapter committees except the Nominating. 6 Review and approve all written and electronic correspondence. 5 Zeta Chi Omega Bylaws Approved by Joyce Henderson Mid Atlantic Regional Director on October 2 2015. 7 Serve as a member on the Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia Inc Board of. SECTION 2 ANTI BASILEUS, A Qualifications Prior to her nomination a candidate for the office of Anti Basileus must. 1 Been a financial member of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter for thirty six 36 consecutive. 2 Attended one 1 of the following within the past thirty six 36 consecutive months. b Regional Conference, c Cluster meeting, d Undergraduate Roundup. e Leadership Seminar, 3 Attended 70 of scheduled Chapter meetings during the past thirty six 36. consecutive months, 4 Participated in the program activities of the Chapter. 5 Served in leadership positions within the Chapter such as an officer a Chapter officer. chairman of a committee or special activities, B Duties The Anti Basileus shall.
1 Assist the Basileus in the performance of her duties. 2 Preside during the absence of the Basileus, 3 Perform other duties as assigned by the Basileus. 4 Serve as Chairman of the Program Committee which is responsible for establishing. the Chapter s programs for each year, 5 Be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Chapter s program activities. 6 Serve as a member on the Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia Inc Board of. 7 Serve as a member of the Executive and Finance Committees. SECTION 3 GRAMMATEUS, A Qualifications Twelve 12 months prior to her nomination a candidate for the office of. the Grammateus must, 1 Have been financial attended 60 of scheduled Chapter meetings and participated in. Chapter program activities, 2 Be able to record proceedings accurately that is as the proceedings occur.
B Duties The Grammateus shall, 1 Assist the Basileus in the performance of her duties. 2 Record the proceedings of the Chapter and the Executive Committee meetings in. permanent record books, 3 Obtain from the Pecunious Grammateus and keep a current Chapter membership. 4 Serve as a member of the Executive and Bylaws Committees. 6 Zeta Chi Omega Bylaws Approved by Joyce Henderson Mid Atlantic Regional Director on October 2 2015. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Zeta Chi Omega Chapter. 5 Record business proceedings accurately and contemporaneously at each Executive. Committee or Chapter meeting, 6 Read the minutes to the body as appropriate. 7 Maintain the Chapter minutes after acceptance by the body in a permanently bound. 8 Assist the Basileus in agenda preparation, 9 Preside in the absence of the Basileus and the Anti Basileus.
10 Send notification of appointments to newly created committees and an outline of. instructions for the committee as specified in the motion which established the. 11 Read all appeals from rulings of the meeting chairman whether overruled or. 12 Receive reports from members who serve as Chapter delegates to Boul s and Mid. Atlantic Regional Conferences, SECTION 4 ANTI GRAMMATEUS. A Qualifications Twelve 12 months prior to her nomination a candidate for the office of. Anti Grammateus must have been a financial member of the Chapter attended 60 of. scheduled Chapter meetings and participated in the program activities of the Chapter. B Duties The Anti Grammateus shall, 1 Assist the Grammateus in the performance of her duties. 2 Serve as recorder in the absence of the Grammateus. 3 Call the roll upon request, 4 Maintain copies of committee reports in permanent record books. 5 Maintain a current directory of the names addresses and telephone numbers of all. financial sorors, 6 Serve as Chairman of the Directory Committee. 7 Serve as a member of the Executive Committee, SECTION 5 TAMIOUCHOS.
